Jackob Rocksonn Interview
Tell us a little about yourself
Hi! As a trance music producer, my career is evolving dynamically. I am an artist who combines a passion for electronic music with a constant drive to experiment with sound. In recent years, my career has gained momentum—I am earning recognition both at home and abroad, and my productions are regularly supported by top DJs such as Armin van Buuren, John Askew, Aly & Fila, Mark Sherry, Paul van Dyk, and many more.
What was your biggest highlight in 2024, and what does the rest of 2025 hold for you?
My debut at Luminosity Festival 2024. This event is one of the most important trance festivals in the world, and performing there was a huge honor—not only as an artist but also as a newcomer to such a prestigious stage.
Another major milestone was my set at VII London, marking a key moment in my career on the British scene. VII London is an event that attracts trance fans from all over the world, and London itself has an incredibly demanding yet open-minded audience. My performance was filled with energy, and I managed to build an incredible connection with the crowd.
Signing my music to John Askew’s label, Deep in Thought, was another huge achievement. Collaborating with John Askew and releasing music on his label is a major step forward in my journey as a trance producer. John Askew, a legendary DJ and producer, is one of the key figures in the trance scene, and his label is a breeding ground for top-tier talent. Working with him is not only a great honor but also an incredible opportunity to further develop my artistry and expand my presence on the international music scene.
I am also eagerly looking forward to my debut at Dreamstate Europe in April. Dreamstate is one of the most prestigious and important trance festival series in the world, and performing there is another dream come true.
Who are your top three producers of all time, and how have they inspired you?
- John Askew – A master of powerful, high-energy trance, particularly in the tech-trance style. His productions feature a raw sound, heavy basslines, and hypnotic melodies.
- Greg Downey – His style blends techno, tech-trance, and even elements of psytrance, always packed with emotion, energy, and an intense atmosphere.
- Deadmau5 – An icon of progressive house and electro, known for deep, melodic tracks and mesmerizing arpeggios. His production techniques and unique approach to sound design have been a huge inspiration to me.
What is your favorite software for music production?
I’ve been producing music in FL Studio since the very beginning, and it has become my main production tool. It’s where I developed my skills, experimented with sounds, and discovered new techniques. Recently, I’ve expanded my workflow with Loopcloud and Splice, which have opened up new possibilities in terms of samples and sound design.
